Ministry sets barcode scanning as new mechanism to enter commercial establishments

RIYADH
- The Ministry of Commerce has set the barcode scanning as a new entry mechanism for entering the commercial establishments, The spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce Abdul Rahman Al-Hussein said.

Al-Hussein said that every commercial establishment will have to provide at its entrance a code for the automatic health status verification permits.

Additionally, the commercial establishments will also have to allocating employees to ensure that shoppers scan the barcode before entering the facility, as shoppers will have to scan the barcode to check the health status of the Tawakkalna application, Al-Hussein added.

Al-Hussein noted that all small shops in the retail sector, such as groceries, laundries, barber shops and Tailoring shops, will not be included in the decision, and the health status will be checked as the usual way by informing the facility employee over the health status in the Tawakkalna app.

The new verification mechanism service will help in raising adherence rates to precautionary measures to prevent coronavirus in commercial establishments and malls, Al-Hussein confirmed.
