SDRPY launches program to build capabilities of Yemeni Finance Ministry

RIYADH — The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) has launched the first workshop of a program to build the capabilities of the Yemeni Ministry of Finance, as part of a comprehensive program to build the capabilities of Yemeni government departments, with the participation of Ministry of Finance.

The launching ceremony of the program was attended by Yemeni Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Waad Badhib; Yemeni Minister of Finance Salem Bin Brik; Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed Bin Saeed Al Jabe, who is also supervisor of SDRPY; Chief of the GCC Mission to Yemen Sarhan Al-Minaikher; Director General of the Development Cooperation at the Ministry of Finance Abdulmohsen Al-Motawwe, and several experts in training and building capabilities.

Dr. Badhib said: “The comprehensive program to build capabilities, which Saudi Arabia started offering in mid-2021 to establish a sustainable technical cooperation, aims at enhancing the planning, development and public finance capabilities through enabling public institutions to diagnose their needs and assess their capabilities in a bid to enable them to perform their basic duties and adapt to various circumstances that they are going through.”

For his part, Bin Brik praised the efforts and support of Saudi Arabia to Yemen and the Yemeni people in the most difficult circumstances, and the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all aspects to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.

This workshop aims at enhancing the capabilities of the Yemeni Finance Ministry and training Yemeni government institutions to be able to meet the needs of the current circumstances and enhance the human and institutional capabilities of ministries working in this field. — SPA
