Shoura speaker receives head of US Mission to Saudi Arabia

RIYADH — The Speaker of the Shoura Council Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al-Sheikh received Head of the US Mission to Saudi Arabia Martina Strong and other officials in the US Embassy at his office in the Shoura Council’s headquarters in Riyadh Tuesday.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Al-Sheikh welcomed Strong and stressed the deep-rooted strategic and historical ties between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the USA in various fields.

Strong too expressed her happiness on visiting the Shoura Council and meeting the Speaker and other officials, referring to her pride in the level of relations between the two countries.

The head of the US mission also had a firsthand look at the role of the Shoura Council in the legislative system in Saudi Arabia and work mechanisms, in addition to its efforts at the level of parliamentary diplomacy in all regional and international events and through its membership in regional and international unions.

Talks during the meeting also reviewed several issues of mutual interest between the two friendly countries in all fields, mainly at the parliamentary level, and discussed aspects of further enhancing cooperation and communication between the Shoura Council and US Congress.
