RIYADH —
The Public Prosecution has ordered the arrest of one citizen and an expatriate who are accused of assaulting foreigners at a recruitment office in Hafar Al-Batin in the Eastern Province.

An official source at the Public Prosecution stated that this follows submission of a report by its monitoring center regarding a video being circulated on the social media pertaining to the attack.

In the video, a citizen and an expatriate were seen assaulting a group of male and female expatriates inside a recruitment office in the Hafar Al-Batin governorate. “An order has been issued by the Public Prosecution to arrest the accused persons based on articles 15 and 17 of the Criminal Procedures Law and to refer them to the Public Prosecution,” source said.

According to the source, the Public Prosecution will take criminal procedures against them, and will plead in the court to award them stringent penalties. The source urged the public to inform the competent authorities when an incident of abuse occurred. Victims as well as witnesses to the incident can also report such incidents, the source added.
