The housemaids’ return was in accordance with their wish and that was in coordination with the Embassy of the Philippines in Riyadh.

The ministry said in a press statement that it is currently in contact with its counterpart in the Philippines with regard to reports appeared in a section of the media in that country about temporary suspension of Filipino housemaid recruitment to the Kingdom.

The ministry made this clarification after noticing the media reports about temporary suspension of recruitment of housemaids to the Kingdom following a dispute between the Filipino housemaids and a citizen.

The ministry emphasized its keenness on everything that would guarantee the rights of workers of all nationalities.

“The ministry is working with the official channels of its counterparts in the Philippines to discuss about the published media reports regarding Manila’s temporary suspension of sending domestic workers to the Kingdom,” the statement added.

The ministry earlier introduced a new electronic service named ‘Maaroufah’ to recruit housemaids from the Philippines.
