PRAGUE — Czech Health Minister Adam Vojtech said Sunday he has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a tweet, the minister said he was not feeling well "from Friday to Saturday," and went for a PCR test on Saturday.

The test result was positive, he said, adding he would start a 14-day isolation.

"Thanks to the vaccination, I have a mild course and will work from home," Vojtech tweeted.

Earlier this week, Czech President Milos Zeman also tested positive for COVID-19. On Sunday, the president appointed Petr Fiala as the new prime minister at a socially-distanced ceremony at his residence in Lany, west of Prague, a day after he was discharged from hospital.

According to data from the Czech health ministry, the country has recorded more than 2.12 million COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic. — Agencies
