Ministers laud Saudi-Indonesian consensus on spreading tolerance and moderation

JEDDAH — Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh has praised the consensus achieved during the meetings he had with Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Choilil Coumas in the field of serving Islam and spreading the principles of tolerance, moderation and temperance as well as the rejection of violence and extremism.

Dr. Al-Sheikh indicated, in a statement while seeing off the Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah on Thursday, that the directives of the wise leadership were to correct the misconception of the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet.

For his part, Minister Yaqut confirmed the success of discussions that took place between the two sides, saying that there was a consensus of visions.

He stressed his country's keenness to benefit from the expertise of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia represented by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs in serving the two holy mosques and its employees, to disseminate the advocacy according to the approach of temperance, moderation and confronting groups that try to exploit Islam for politics, in addition to building a strategic partnership to train and qualify preachers and imams to achieve the desired goals. — SPA
