Haya and Rana qualify for Arab Badminton Cup semifinals

RIYADH — Haya Al-Mudra and Rana Abu Harbash, members of the Saudi women’s badminton team, have qualified for the semifinals of the doubles tournament for the Arab Badminton Cup. They beat the pair of the UAE national team Kawthar Al-Sayegh and Bushra Najjar, with a score of 2/0, in the tournament being held in the Bahraini capital Manama.

Haya and Rana are preparing to compete in the semifinals of the tournament against a Jordanian doubles team. The Saudi women’s badminton team is participating in the Arab world for the first time and the pair’s super show, reflects the extent of interest and support enjoyed by women’s sports at the Saudi Badminton Federation.

Speaking to reporters, Haya expressed happiness over her participation in the tournament and the distinguished level she achieved along with Rana. She thanked the Saudi Badminton Federation for the support, interest and development provided to male and female players of the team.

It is noteworthy that the delegation of the Saudi national badminton team had left King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh to participate in the Arab Badminton Cup, which started in Manama on Nov. 13. The Arab countries that are participating in the tournament include Iraq, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Oman, Bahrain, UAE, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
