RIYADH — During this year's season, the Royal Commission for AlUla presents various programs and events that depict the past to build a bridge for the new generations and to witness the most prominent elements of the ancient era through three main events, among others.

The visitor to AlUla will experience the “Hegra After Dark” among the landmarks of civilizations that history does not forget, and its traces remain visible among the boulders of that charming region with its terrain and attractive oasis.

In Jabal Al-Khuraimat, opposite to the facades of Nabataean cemeteries, visitors enjoy a special and unique experience with the place’s architectural features and the serenity of “Hegra” and its starry sky.

Emanating from the history of the Nabateans, one of the theater groups embodies the story of Queen Shaqilath and evokes the apparent history with its characters and details.

The visitor will get the chance to live the tale of the ancestors and listen to some of their authentic Nabataean languages through attending an open-air theater show in “Hegra”.

The culture of theater in the Kingdom is seeing a strong comeback in light of the visual and cultural diversity it witnesses by reviving heritage and contributing to its effective investment, an activity that brightens the skies of Hegra through historical theatrical performances.

The objectives of the events coincided with the vision of the RCU to protect, preserve and enhance history through coding events that consolidate AlUla’s position as a distinguished cultural destination, in addition to the events’ contribution as a platform for displaying historical activities.

The efforts of the commission does not stop at bringing the Nabatean history in particular to the attention of visitors, but rather at the level of the civilization of the place.

The historic town of AlUla is one of the most important sites for visitors who are keen to visit during the AlUla season, which embodies the life of the locals of AlUla in a town whose features have not changed over hundreds of years.

The Royal Commission has contributed to preparing the town to become the most important historical site full of quality products that brought the cultural output to higher levels, and the visitor can wander between its alleys and learn about historical products designed in a modern way.

The famous Tantora Sundial remains a beacon for the region's culture that defines the features of work, time, production, the agricultural revolution, and the effective management of development, and builds up a bond with all its visitors and lovers. — SPA
