Cabinet lauds govt’s proactive steps in curbing coronavirus, limiting impact

NEOM — The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Prime Minister, chaired the Cabinet's virtual session Tuesday and briefed the Cabinet on the content of the letter received from Oman Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq, regarding the strong and solid relations that bind the two countries and peoples as well as ways to enhance these relations in different fields.

The Cabinet reviewed the recent meetings and talks that took place between Saudi Arabia and a number of countries with the aim of enhancing aspects of joint and multilateral cooperation at different levels and work in order to strengthen coordination on regional and international issues.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Minister of State, Cabinet's Member and Acting Minister of Media Dr. Essam Bin Saad Bin Saeed said the Cabinet addressed the Kingdom’s statements during the meetings held last week within the framework of the G20.

Saudi Arabia affirmed its interest in reforming the global economy through the "Riyadh Initiative for the World Trade Organization’s Future”, which was endorsed by G20 leaders last year.

This is in addition to the Kingdom’s continued support for its works in order to achieve strong, sustainable, balanced and comprehensive growth, creating a bright and promising future for the region and the entire world.

The Cabinet welcomed heads of States and their representatives, as well as participants in the “Saudi Green Initiative Forum and “Middle East Green Initiative Summit” that Saudi Arabia will host during the period from Oct. 23-25, 2021.

The hosting of the two events emanates from the Kingdom’s pioneering role in protecting the climate and supporting the international community’s efforts in confronting the main challenges related to the environment.

The Cabinet also thanked Allah Almighty for the success of the Kingdom’s efforts in confronting the novel coronavirus pandemic and limiting its impacts on all aspects of life.

This was achieved through the government’s proactive steps and precautionary measures, the health sector’s efficiency, and the witnessed progress in immunizing the society from the virus, where over 44 million doses have been administered in all regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Cabinet was briefed on a number of issues on its agenda, and issued the following decisions.

It authorized the Minister of Foreign Affairs to discuss and sign with the Honduran side a draft general agreement for cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Honduras.

The Cabinet authorized the Minister of Media, who is also chairman of the Board of Directors of the Radio and Television Authority, to discuss and sign with the Vietnamese side a draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the television field between the Radio and Television Authority of Saudi Arabia and Vietnamese Television.

It approved a memorandum of understanding between the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) of Saudi Arabia and the Telecommunications and Postal Regulatory Authority of Sudan in the field of communications, information technology and post.

The Cabinet appointed Eng. Khalil Bin Ibrahim Al-Watban, representative of the Ministry of Economy and Planning, to the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA). It also reviewed a number of general topics on its agenda. — SPA
