JEDDAH — Tibyana Medical Laboratories and Abbott Company celebrated the contract signing for the smart sample transport system, which is based on RFID technology or radio wave identification.
The system uses radio waves to track medical samples and determine the temperature, geographical location, and timing of samples transferred over the course of the minute.
Samples are transported using tube holders as well as sample transfer containers (Category B, UN3373) equipped with RFID chips that comply with the specifications and conditions of the International Professional Regulation for Packaging and Transport of Medical Samples.
The system also records the date of sampling and transfer of samples, and it records the identity of the person responsible for transporting samples.
Tibyana Medical Laboratories is the first laboratory in the Middle East and North Africa to implement this system, which greatly contributes to reducing sample transfer errors or transferring them in unsuitable environmental conditions, thus raising the level of accuracy and quality of results.
The CEO of Tibyana Medical Laboratories Dr. Ahmed Rabie and the General Manager of Abbott Company in Saudi Arabia Islam Jaber, signed the partnership contract in the presence and patronage of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tibyana Health Investments, Ali Al-Qadi. — SG
