Smuggling of more than 12 million Captagon pills thwarted at Jeddah Islamic Port

The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) announced that it had thwarted an attempt to smuggle more than 12 million Captagon pills that were found hidden inside a consignment at Jeddah Islamic Port on Friday.

The authority explained that the quantity of Captagon pills was found hidden inside of a consignment, as they detected it through security techniques at the port.

The violators who were receiving this amount of captagon pills were arrested, the authority indicated.

They confirmed that the authority is doing its utmost to prevent and thwart any smuggling attempt, stressing that it continues to confiscate and tighten customs control over all imports and combat smuggling in all its forms.

Two attempts was thwarted last August by the authority in Jeddah Islamic Port.

In the first smuggling attempt, A quantity of Captagon amounting to more than 8.7 million pills was hidden inside cocoa fruit.

In the second smuggling bid, 1,600.00 Captagon pills that were found hidden inside a consignment.

The ZATCA called on everyone to communicate with it to report any information related to smuggling crimes through the Security Reports Center (1910), as the center receives security reports in complete secrecy, with a financial reward given to those who report if the reporting information is correct.
