DUBAI — A fire that broke out in the Port Said area near the Dubai airport, with social media videos showing massive plumes of smoke rising from behind a building, is currently being tackled by firefighters on Wednesday.

The Dubai Media Office (DMO) said that Dubai Civil Defense teams are dealing with a fire at a warehouse in the area. “No injuries reported from the incident,” DMO added.

In the videos, posted in social media, flames can be seen at the top of a building and sirens can be heard in the background.

Emergency services were in attendance at the scene, behind the Kabayel shopping center on Abu Baker Al Siddique Road in Muraqqabat, Deira.

A Civil Defense official said the fire started in a printing press warehouse business located behind the mall.

He said all occupants escaped the building safely before the fire took hold. The blaze briefly led to traffic congestion, which has since been cleared.

The warehouse contained plastic, the fire service said, which caused huge clouds of acrid smoke to spread. There are no reports of any injuries at this stage.

Earlier this month, crews fought a major blaze at a plastic factory in Jebel Ali. The blaze gutted the building and burned into the night. — Agencies
