DUBAI — The Emarati-Yemeni artist Balqees Fathi revealed as the first Middle East wax figure at Madame Tussauds museum in Dubai.

Earlier this week, Madame Tussauds, one of the world's most famous wax museums, announced that it will open its doors and welcome visitors soon at "Bluewaters" in Dubai.

The museum has chosen Balqees as the first figure in the Middle East to be embodied because of her particular popularity with her audience.

The sculptors spent three months designing and materializing the work, which began with their travels to Dubai to take 500 of the most accurate measurements of Balqees.

The artist said that she’s very proud of being chosen as the first figure to be embodied in the Middle East.

“I was very surprised by the similarity between me and my waxwork figure, and the ingenuity of the sculptors in the smallest details of the work.”

Sanaz Kollsrud. the general director at Madame Tussauds said that they are very excited to announce the official ceremony to present the first waxwork figure in the Middle East, which will open its doors to visitors soon this year.

Madame Tussauds museums have spread their branches around the world to attract tourists, such as London, Amsterdam, Las Vegas, New York, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Washington DC, Berlin and Hollywood. And their first branch in the Middle East will open soon in Dubai.

It has embodied the most prominent figures of history and artists such as Princess Diana, Marilyn Monroe, Nelson Mandela, Elizabeth Taylor, Salvador Dali, Vincent Van Gogh and sports stars such as Michael Jordan, Mohamed Salah, Ronaldinho and many more. — SG
