Surge in recoveries, drop in new infections bring down COVID-19 active cases sharply

Over 31 million vaccine doses administered in Saudi Arabia

New COVID-19 cases continued to remain below 800 on Thursday, with 766 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, 12 more people died due to complications caused by the virus over the past 24 hours.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 536,693 and the virus-related fatalities to 8,378.

According to the ministry, a total of 1,532 people recovered over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 518,911.

The Riyadh region reported the highest number of new cases with 133, followed by the Riyadh region with 127, the Eastern region with 113, and the Asir region with 80 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with none of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 9,404 active cases and 1,387 of them were in critical condition.

The ministry also announced that it has so far administered over 31 million coronavirus vaccines doses, with more than 10 million people receiving both doses of the vaccine.
