Olympic Committee to launch program to develop sports sector: Minister

RIYADH — Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee (SAOC) will launch a program that will contribute to the development of the sports sector in Saudi Arabia, Minister of Sports Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al-Faisal announced on Monday.

Prince Abdulaziz, who is also the president of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, said that winning Olympic medals requires psychological and physical preparation for a period ranging between 4 to 8 years.

He extended his congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and the Crown Prince on the occasion of the achievement of Saudis sports that has been absent for 9 years.

The success was achieved by Saudi Karate national team player, who won the silver medal in +75 kg Karate Kumite category, at the Tokyo Olympics.

Saudi Arabia concluded its participation in Tokyo 2020 Olympics recently with only one silver medal. — SG
