RIYADH — The King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) took part in the conference of the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children (WCGTC) to share its experience in offering summer, academic and research programs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the participation of experts and representatives of 55 countries, the conference was held virtually during the period from July 31 to Aug. 8, 2021, under the theme of “Developing the Future of Gifted Education.”

Director of the Center of Excellence at Mawhiba Dr. Khaled Al-Sharif, in a working paper, presented the foundation’s efforts in holding summer enrichment programs as well as support for talented students during the pandemic.

He also highlighted Mawhiba’s ability to turn the COVID-19 crisis into an opportunity for success and a way to harness technology to develop its business and continue offering programs. This is in addition to launching the digital transformation project “e-mawhiba”.

The summer enrichment programs, being organized by the Ministry of Education and Mawhiba, aim to develop human capacities in order to contribute to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

They also aim to foster students' interest in scientific research in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), as well as to develop the students’ personal and professional skills. — SPA
