RIYADH — New COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia remained below the 1,000-mark on Friday for the second consecutive, with 954 new infections recorded over the past 24 months.

On Thursday, the Ministry of Health recorded less than 1,000 new coronavirus cases for the first time in two months.

According to the ministry, 14 more people died due to complications caused by the virus over the past 24 hours.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 531,935 and the virus-related fatalities to 8,311.

According to the ministry, a total of 1,014 people recovered over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 513,387.

The Makkah region reported the highest number of new cases with 182, followed by the Riyadh region with 164, the Eastern region with 152, and the Asir region with 102 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with none of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 10,237 active cases and 1,404 of them were in critical condition.

The ministry on Thursday announced that it has so far administered over 29 million coronavirus vaccines doses through more than 687 vaccination centers.
