RIYADH — Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman said that Saudi Arabia will be an engine for digital transformation in the energy sector and currently it is looking for ways to reduce the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

He made the remarks during his speech at the session on “Accelerating clean energy transformations” on the second day of the Fourth Industrial Revolution Forum in Riyadh on Thursday.

Prince Abdulaziz said Saudi Arabia is proud of hosting energy centers in partnerships with international companies, and its launch of the Fourth Industrial Revolution Center is a great achievement that deserves to be celebrated.

“The Fourth Industrial Revolution is transforming the basics of human life, and the Kingdom has achieved good, significant and outstanding results in several sectors related to the Fourth Industrial Revolution and it is leading many sectors in the world.”

Prince Abdulaziz explained that energy is an essential part of life and that the Kingdom’s vision is to transform the energy sector through the application of data and technology. “Saudi Arabia has human resources that enable the Kingdom to become an engine for digital transformation in energy with the presence of the younger generation, and most importantly, for the benefit of humanity as a whole, not just Saudi Arabia. The Internet of Things allowed us to monitor and transport oil,” he pointed out.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution can be used to promote transformation and eliminate emissions, the minister said while pointing to Saudi Arabia’s use of renewable energy and its quest to develop new types of energy with its commitment to working with the circular carbon economy system, which was among the foundations of the G20 summit headed by Saudi Arabia, in addition to reducing gas emissions.

Prince Abdulaziz said the Kingdom is currently looking for ways to reduce the proportion of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, making it enjoyable, in addition to working on other aspects. It is also making efforts to transform the energy sector into an integrated sector, he added.
