Saudi Arabia sees slight drop in new COVID-19 cases, deaths as recoveries remain steady

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health on Wednesday recorded 1,142 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours.

According to the ministry, 12 more people died due to complications caused by the virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 513,284 and the virus-related fatalities to 8,115.

The ministry also said that a total of 1,024 people recovered over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 494,264.

The Riyadh region reported the highest number of new cases with 302, followed by the Makkah region with 188, the Eastern region with 176 and the Asir region with 143 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just one of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 10,905 active cases and 1,374 of them were in critical condition.
