Saudi Arabia reports 1,055 new COVID-19 cases, 1,143 recoveries

RIYADH — COVID-19 cases continued to drop in Saudi Arabia on Sunday, with 1,055 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry, 12 more people died due to complications caused by the virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 509,576 and the virus-related fatalities to 8,075.

The ministry also said that a total of 1,143 people recovered over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 490,696.

The Riyadh region reported the highest number of new cases with 323, followed by the Makkah region with 187, the Eastern region with 170 and the Asir region with 114 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just one of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 10,805 active cases and 1,420 of them were in critical condition.
