King, Crown Prince offer condolences to Pakistani president on death of former leader

RIYADH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has sent a cable of condolences and sympathy to Pakistani President Dr. Arif Alvi on the death of former President Mamnoon Hussain.

King Salman in his cable said: "We learned of the death of the former President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain and as we send to your excellency, the family of the deceased and the people of Pakistan our deepest condolences and sincere sympathy, asking God Almighty for his mercy and forgiveness for the deceased.”

Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, sent a similar cable of condolences to the Pakistani president.

Former Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain died in the city of Karachi on Wednesday at the age of 80.

Hussain, who was born in the northern Indian city of Agra in 1940 and migrated with his parents to Pakistan in 1947, served as the 12th President of Pakistan between September 2013 and September 2018.

He was diagnosed with cancer in February last year and was under treatment at a private hospital in Karachi for some days where he breathed his last, Pakistan’s Dawn newspaper reported on Wednesday.
