Saudi Arabia’s COVID-19 cases stay steady as deaths remain low

RIYADH — New COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia surged past the 1,200-mark once again on Tuesday, with 1295 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, 14 more people died due to complications caused by the virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 503,734 and the virus-related fatalities to 8,006.

The ministry also said that a total of 946 people recovered over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 484,883.

The Riyadh region reported the highest number of new cases with 327, followed by the Eastern region with 189, the Makkah region with 283, and the Asir region with 135 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just one of them reporting 8 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 10,845 active cases and 1,426 of them were in critical condition.

The health ministry also announced that more than 20 million doses of the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine have been administered through 587 designated vaccine centers across Saudi Arabia.
