New Saudi COVID-19 cases stay steady below 1,200-mark

RIYADH — New COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia stayed below the 1,200-mark on Sunday, the third straight day, with 1,112 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, 13 more people died due to complications caused by the virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 501,195 and the virus-related fatalities to 7,976.

The ministry also said that a total of 1,189 people recovered over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 484,414.

The Makkah region reported the highest number of new cases with 260, followed by the Eastern region with 209, the Asir region with 196, and the Riyadh region with 193 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just two of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 10,805 active cases and 1,418 of them were in critical condition.
