KUWAIT —
Kuwait’s interior ministry has issued new instructions making it mandatory to have at least two policemen in a patrol vehicle.

In a statement, the ministry also pointed rules for the use of firearms by security officials while carrying out their duties.

The instructions come after a traffic cop was stabbed to death by a Kuwaiti resident last week.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Interior Minister Thamer Al-Ali Al-Sabah visited Minister of Interior Sheikh Thamer Al-Ali Al-Sabah visited a police officer who was stabbed while on duty on Monday.

The minister checked on the police officer's health, made sure that the officer gets all the care he needs, and praised his dedication to work, providing security and safety for citizens and residents, the Kuwaiti News Agency reported citing a statement from the interior ministry.

In the statement, the ministry said a suspect has been arrested over Monday’s stabbing incident, stressing that it will firmly deal with anyone who violates the law.
