RIYADH — Saudi Arabia will chair the major donors' group for the year 2022-2023, while maintaining its membership in the Troika for the next three years 2021-2024.

In the meantime, the Kingdom will hand over the presidency for the current year to the Netherlands, according to the outcomes of a high-level meeting held at the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

The announcement was made during the virtual participation of the Kingdom’s representative, the Assistant Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) for Planning and Development Affairs, Dr. Aqeel Al-Ghamdi, on Thursday in the meeting.

Dr. Al-Ghamdi said that this announcement reflects the Kingdom’s unremitting efforts in the service of humanitarian work, and its position as one of the major donor countries in the world.

He added that the Saudi humanitarian projects provided through the center amounted to 1,686 projects implemented in 69 countries across the world, covering various vital sectors, valued at more than $3.5 billion. — SPA
