Saudi Arabia reports 1,567 new COVID-19 cases, highest in many months

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia on Tuesday recorded 1,567 new COVID-19 cases, marking the highest single-day rise in new infection in many months, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

The ministry also announced 15 more deaths from complications caused by COVID-19.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 486,106 and the virus-related fatalities to 7,804.

According to the ministry, a total of 1,032 people recovered over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 466,578.

The Makkah region reported the highest number of new cases with 403, followed by the Riyadh region with 328, the Eastern region with 328, and the Asir region with 173 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just one of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 11,724 active cases and 1,406 of them were in critical condition.
