RIYADH — The Arab Coalition forces late on Saturday destroyed six armed drones launched by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi militia towards the Kingdom, bringing the total it intercepted during the day to 17.

The coalition said two further drones were fired at Khamis Mushait while eight drones were fired towards the south of the Kingdom, one of which was aimed towards the city of Najran. All of these were intercepted and destroyed.

The coalition statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) Twitter feed, said, that all operational measured were taken to intercept the “terrorist” attack.

It added it was protecting civilians in accordance with international laws and humanitarian norms.

The Iran-aligned Houthis have frequently targeted Khamis Mushait and other Saudi cities along the frontier in the more than six-year-old Yemen war.

Meanwhile, the Arab Parliament in Cairo condemned the launch of 11 “booby-trapped” drones by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia towards Khamis Mushait and Najran, in a continuous and deliberate targeting of the security and safety of citizens and residents, which the coalition forces to restore legitimacy in Yemen successfully confronted.

In a statement today, the Arab Parliament expressed its strong condemnation of the continued attacks of the Houthi terrorist militia and its insistence on threatening the security and safety of civilians, stressing that all Houthis' acts are decided in Tehran in order to achieve Iranian agenda and sabotage goals in the region.

It also stressed the need for the international community to take immediate deterrent measures against this terrorist militia that threatens peace and security in the region, calling for decisive measures to be taken to force it to abandon the option of war, destruction and sabotage, and to submit to the option of peace.

The Arab Parliament reiterated its full support and solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all the measures it takes to protect its security and stability and the safety of citizens and residents on its territories.

Also Gulf States Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Arab country Jordan too strongly condemned the launch of a number of (booby-trapped) drones by Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia towards Khamis Mushait and Najran.

Kuwait has made it clear that the continuation and persistence of these aggressive attacks confirms the need for the international community to move to hold the perpetrators accountable.

In a statement, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed Kuwait's stand by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support in all the measures it takes to maintain its security and stability.

Bahrain also stressed its firm and strongly supportive stance for the Kingdom and its solidarity with it in all the measures it takes to confront these terrorist acts that target civilian objects and safe civilians.

In a statement, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs praised the vigilance of the coalition forces to support legitimacy in Yemen, which were able to intercept and destroy the drones.

For its part, the UAE expressed its strong condemnation of the attempts of Houthi terrorist militia to systematically target civilians and civilian objects through booby-trapped drones, which were intercepted by the coalition forces to support legitimacy in Yemen.

In a statement issued by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UAE called upon the international community to take an immediate and decisive stance to stop these repeated actions.

Meanwhile, the Jordanian government reiterated Jordan's permanent and firm stance in condemning and denouncing these cowardly terrorist acts and the continued targeting of civilian areas.

It stressed in a statement by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the security of both countries is one and indivisible, and that any threat to the security and stability of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a threat to the security and stability of the entire region.

The Republic of Djibouti too strongly condemned and denounced the launch of drones (booby-trapped) by Houthi terrorist militia to target civilians and civilian objects in Khamis Mushait and Najran.

Ambassador Ziauddin Saeed Bamakhrama, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Djiboutian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia said: "While the world is looking forward to solutions in Yemen to achieve security and peace for its brotherly people, the coup militias continue to target civilians and civilian objects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," stressing his country's support for the Kingdom and its support for all the measures it takes to preserve its security and sovereignty.

He also affirmed that these attacks violate international law and do not serve Yemen and its people, but rather pose a threat to the region and undermine the efforts and initiatives for a solution in Yemen. — SPA
