Coronavirus active cases fall in Saudi Arabia as recoveries continue to outpace new infections

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health on Monday recorded 1,109 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health, 18 more people died over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 466,906 and the virus-related fatalities to 7,590.

The ministry also reported 1,148 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 449,241.

The Makkah region reported the highest number of new cases with 359, followed by the Riyadh region with 221, the Eastern region with 189, and the Asir region with 85 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just two of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 10,075 active cases and 1,596 of them were in critical condition.
