Recoveries surge as Saudi Arabia’s infections stay below 1,200 mark

RIYADH — New COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia fell below 1,200 again on Sunday, the third straight day, with 1,017 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health, 19 more people died over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 465,797 and the virus-related fatalities to 7,572.

The ministry also reported 1,133 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 448,093.

The Makkah region reported the highest number of new cases with 344, followed by the Riyadh region with 198, the Eastern region with 155, the Asir region with 84, the Madinah region with 68 and the Jazan region with 60 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just two of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 10,132 active cases and 1,575 of them were in critical condition.
