KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait's Ministry of Health recorded on Tuesday 1,581 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, the highest daily figure in the country since April 12 when 1,635 infections were recorded.

According to the health ministry, three more people succumbed to the deadly virus over the past 24 hours.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 320,257 and virus-related fatalities to 1,801.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,244 more patients have recovered from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, pushing the total number of recoveries in the country to 303,637.

According to the ministry’s spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, there are currently 14,819 active cases in the country out of which 156 are receiving treatment in intensive care units.

The spokesman urged citizens and expatriates alike that abiding by health precautions, mainly, following social distancing rules, is the only way to halt the spread of the virus. — SG
