King, Crown Prince congratulate Ethiopian president on National Day

RIYADH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman have sent cables of congratulation to Ethiopian President Sahle-Work Zewde on the anniversary of her country's National Day.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince wished the Ethiopian president good health and happiness and the government and people of Ethiopia steady progress and prosperity.

National Day, which is also known as the Derg Downfall Day, is a public holiday and celebrated across the country on May 29 every year. The day marks the end of the Derg regime in 1991.

King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman also congratulated President of Azerbaijan Ilham Heydar Aliyev on the anniversary of his country's Republic Day, wishing him good health and happiness and the government and people of Azerbaijan steady progress and prosperity.

Republic Day honors the date on which the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR) was founded as a secular democratic state in 1918. Since 1990, Republic Day on May 28 is celebrated as a national holiday in Azerbaijan.
