Chinese envoy participates in forestation works in Huraymila National Park

HURAYMILA, Saudi Arabia, — The CEO of the National Center for Vegetation Cover and Combating Desertification (NCVCCD) Dr. Khaled Al-Abdulkadir received the China’s Ambassador Chen Weiqing, and representatives of Chinese companies operating in Saudi Arabia who arrived here Wednesday to participate in the forestation work at Huraymila National Park, north of Riyadh.

Expressing happiness over the participation of the Chinese ambassador in forestation works, Dr. Al-Abdulkadir noted that the visit comes as part of a series of efforts implemented by NCVCCD to raise awareness of the importance of sustainable forestation, and promote practices that contribute to preserving and developing the vegetation cover, preserving the ecological balance and reducing the effects of desertification.

For his part, Ambassador Chen Weiqing praised the great efforts made by NCVCCD in the field of forestation, rehabilitation and preservation of vegetation cover in Saudi Arabia, stressing the importance of these efforts and their role in promoting biodiversity in natural environments, protecting the environment and preserving the environmental balance that contributes to improving quality of life, pointing out that the Kingdom and China are among the pioneering countries of the world in protecting the environment.

The NCVCCD has recently successfully completed "Make it Green" campaign, targeting ten million trees in 1,247 sites in the Kingdom's regions during the past six months, which included planting local trees and shrubs suitable for each region. — SPA
