Single-day coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia rise to 9-month high

JEDDAH — Saudi Arabia recorded on Wednesday 1,213 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, marking the highest number of single-day infections for the first time in nearly nine months.

According to the Ministry of Health, 13 more people died over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 436,239 and the virus-related fatalities to 7,201.

The ministry also reported 910 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 420, 671.

The Riyadh region recorded the highest number of new cases with 349 followed by the Makkah region with 334 and the Eastern region with 148 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just one of the reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 8,367 active cases and 1,372 of them were in critical condition.
