RIYADH — The Museums Commission will host a virtual concert — the first of its kind in the Kingdom — on Tuesday at the National Museum in Riyadh as part of its celebration of International Museum Day.

This day brings together all those interested in museums through events that promote communication and highlight museum efforts aimed at supporting heritage and culture.

The concert, to be live-streamed on the Ministry of Culture's YouTube channel, will feature the Saudi Opera singer Sawsan Al Bahiti, the Saudi oud player and singer Abdullah Saad, the Saudi cellist Mohammed Alguthmi, Elvin, Joe Hodson, and Daniele Ciminiello.

Under the theme “The Future of Museums: Recover and Reimagine,” the audience will be taken on a cultural musical journey that amuses, enlightens and inspires.

The Museums Commission seeks, through hosting the musical concert, to raise awareness of the cultural importance of museums and their role in preserving, documenting and developing human experience of all kinds.

It also aims to enhance museum presence being one of the most affected sectors by the coronavirus pandemic, until this crisis is over. — SPA
