New COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia fall below 900 as recoveries continue to rise

JEDDAH — Coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia dropped below 900 on Saturday for the first time in many days, with 837 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health, 13 more people died over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 432,269 and the virus-related fatalities to 7,147.

The ministry also reported 1,012 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 416,759.

The Riyadh region recorded the highest number of new cases with 290 followed by the Makkah region with 240 and the Eastern region with 97 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with three regions reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 8,363 active cases and 1,331 of them were in critical condition.
