RIYADH — Minister of Health Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah has warned against the laxity on the part of the public in adhering to precautionary measures ahead of Eid Al-Fitr.

Al-Rabiah said in several tweets on Wednesday: “Go to Eid prayer with your own carpet, wear the mask constantly, sanitize your hands before and after the Eid, leave a safe distance between you and others."

"I am keen on you, and I want your safety.”

"Beware of kissing or hugging children, even though children infections are minor or without symptoms, but they transmit the infection heavily, so it is important to protect the elders, especially those who have not yet received the vaccine,” the minster added.

Al-Rabiah recalled what happened during last year’s Eid Al-Adha saying: "I still remember with sadness Eid Al-Adha of the last year, when, at that time, people were careless in applying precautionary measures, due to which the infections increased and resulted in the loss of 2,000 person.”

“Please do not make this festival into an Eid of sorrows."

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has announced on Wednesday that more than 11 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered through 587 vaccination centers across Saudi Arabia.
