COVID-19 recoveries steady as new cases in Saudi Arabia dips below 1,000

JEDDAH — Single-day COVID-19 cases dipped below the 1,000-mark on Saturday, with 997 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health.

The ministry announced 14 more deaths over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the deadly virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 425,442 and the virus-related fatalities to 7,059.

The ministry also reported 1,026 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 408,676.

The Riyadh region recorded the highest number of new cases with 372 followed by the Makkah region with 250 and the Eastern region with 123 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with only AlJouf region registering single digit (7) cases.

According to the ministry, there were 9,707 active cases and 1,319 of them were in critical condition.
