New cases in Saudi Arabia stay below 1,000-mark; recoveries rise

JEDDAH — Single-day COVID-19 cases stayed below the 1,000-mark for the third straight day on Monday with 999 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health.

The ministry announced 14 more deaths over the past 24 hours due to complications caused by the deadly virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 421,300 and the virus-related fatalities to 7,006.

The ministry also reported 1,005 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 404,707.

The Riyadh region recorded the highest number of new cases with 398 followed by the Makkah region with 241 and the Eastern region with 111 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with two recording single digit cases.

According to the ministry, there were 9,587 active cases and 1,356 of them were in critical condition.
