Heritage Commission marks World Heritage Day at KAHC

RIYADH — The Heritage Commission celebrated Sunday the World Heritage Day through an event held at the King Abdulaziz Historical Center (KAHC), in the presence of Deputy Minister of Culture Hamid Mohammed Fayez, a number of executive heads of cultural commissions, employees of the Ministry of Culture, and figures interested in heritage.

The event included a photographic exhibition that reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's rich heritage of antiquities and archaeological sites in various Saudi cities and regions, with an introductory overview of each region, and the role of the Heritage Commission in preserving and highlighting the national heritage, in addition to activities of craftsmen and craftswomen.

The celebration comes in the context of the Heritage Commission's keenness to keep pace with the global celebration of Heritage Day, for which the International Council on Monuments and Sites marked the 18th of April every year as a day to celebrate it, under the auspices of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the World Heritage Organization.
