MAKKAH —
The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has added 5,500 tons of cooling to make the atmosphere more comfortable in the Grand Mosque here, using 32 special cool air handling units from Ajyad.

The Presidency has provided additional systems for cooling the Grand Mosque in Makkah during the season.

These systems will facilitate cooling the atmosphere at several locations in the Grand Mosque including the Mataf building, the floor having the circumambulation area (Mataf), the first floor and the Mezzanine, undersecretary of the General President for Projects and Studies Eng. Sultan Al-Qurashi said.

It is noteworthy that the cooling system of the Grand Mosque blows over 160,000 tons of cooling to various parts inside the Haram through one of the biggest specialist cooling systems in the world.

The systems function by blowing pure air through pipes linking the cooling plants at the Grand Mosque in an approximately 1.5 km long line. The air temperature is lowered to about 4 degrees Celsius before pumping to various parts of the Grand Mosque.
