Critical cases top 1,000 for first time in many months as 964 new COVID-19 cases reported

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health recorded on Friday 964 new COVID-19 cases and 10 more virus-related deaths over the past 24 hours.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 403,106 and the virus-related fatalities to 6,801.

The ministry also reported 918 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 387,020.

The Riyadh region recorded the highest number of new cases with 402 followed by the Makkah region with 215 and the Eastern region with 157 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just one of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 9,285 active cases and 1,034 of them were in critical condition.
