RIYADH — The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has called on countries meeting in the ongoing Vienna talks over the Iran nuclear deal to consider its concerns over Tehran’s continuous enrichment of uranium levels.

The Vienna talks should focus on Iran’s nuclear armament program and its aggressive policies that aim to destabilize the region, GCC Secretary-General Nayef Al-Hajraf said in a statement on Wednesday.

In letters sent to the foreign ministers of the Iran nuclear deal signatories — UK, France, China and Russia, and Germany — as well the United States, Al-Hajraf highlighted the need for the participation of GCC countries in the Vienna negotiations on Iran’s nuclear weapons program.

The Vienna talks are aimed at reviving the Iran nuclear deal, which was abandoned by the Trump administration in 2018.

Al-Hajraf said the GCC plays a major role in strengthening the security and stability of the region, and that the negotiations currently underway in Vienna should not be limited to the Iranian nuclear program, but rather should include Iran’s destabilizing behavior, ballistic missiles, and paths.
