Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) disclosed that a new group of vaccines has arrived in the Kingdom. “These vaccines are under study and evaluation, and their approval will be announced soon,” it said.

The authority said that the use of the two doses of the coronavirus vaccine, with a period of gap not less than 21 days and not more than 42 days, is the basis upon which vaccines are registered in the country.

“We would like to inform the general public about the existence of a recent published medical study indicating that the first dose of the vaccine Pfizer is effective, but this study alone is insufficient to support the use of a single dose only,” the authority added.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health announced that the total number of recipients of coronavirus vaccine doses in Saudi Arabia exceeded 5 million, through more than 500 vaccine centers in all regions of the Kingdom.

It called on everyone to come forward to register their names for vaccination on the Sehhaty application so as to preserve the health and safety of all members of the society.

It also stressed at the same time the need to adhere to the precautionary measures to stem the spread of the pandemic.

The ministry warned on Sunday of a surge in coronavirus infections, while attributing this to the laxity in compliance with the precautionary measures and preventive protocols.
