COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia remain below 700 amid spike in new infections

RIYADH — Single-day coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia remained below the 700-mark for the third day in a row as the Ministry of Health on Monday recorded 695 new infections over the past 24 hours.

On Friday, the Kingdom reported over 700 new infections for the first time in many months.


The health ministry announced seven more deaths from complications caused by COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 393,377 and the virus-related fatalities to 6,704.

The ministry also reported 489 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 380,305.

The Riyadh region recorded the highest number of new cases with 289 followed by the Makkah region with 151 and the Eastern region with 108 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with only four of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 6,368 active cases and 836 of them were in critical condition.
