SAGO issues tender for 295,000 tons of wheat for May-June

April 01, 2021

RIYADH — The Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) announced on Thursday a tender for 295,000 tons of wheat for May-June shipment to cover local demand and maintain stocks.

SAGO seeks two wheat vessels to the port of Jeddah, two ships to Yanbu and one ship to Jazan, according to the governor of SAGO, Ahmad Al-Fares.

The governor pointed out that this tender comes within the framework of SAGO’s plan to meet the local demand from milling companies and to maintain the reserve stock of wheat.

He noted that SAGO earlier this year purchased 355,000 tons from Saudi investors abroad, in addition to announcing earlier this week the start date of the local wheat reception season, which is April 4, 2021, in order to further maintain the local stocks of wheat.
