Five star Saudi Arabia cruise past Palestine to top Group D

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia cruised to a 5-0 victory over Palestine at the "Marsool Park" stadium in Riyadh amid cheers of fans on Tuesday.

With the resounding victory, the Kingdom moved top of Group D of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023.

The first goal for the Saudi side was scored by Yasser Al-Shahrani at the 37th minute. Al-Shahrani’s colleague Fahd Al-Muwallad added the second goal in the 43rd minute, while the third and fourth goals were scored by Saleh Al-Shehri at the 52nd and 58th minutes.

In the 88th minute, Saudi skipper Salem Al-Dossary added the fifth goal from a penalty kick.

With this result, the Saudi team raised its score to 11 points, topping its group, while Palestine remained in the last place with 4 points.

It is noteworthy that the match was attended by Saudi fans who have been inoculated against coronavirus amid adherence to precautionary measures such as spacing in the seats and wearing masks. — Agencies
