RIYADH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman has sent cables of congratulations to Niger’s President-elect Mohamed Bazoum on winning his country's presidential election.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince congratulated the president, stressing keenness on enhancing bilateral relations and wishing the president good health and the people of Niger further progress and prosperity.

Mohamed Bazoum, who succeeds incumbent President Mahamadou Issoufou, will be inaugurated on April 2 as the tenth president of Niger.

Niger’s Constitutional Court confirmed on Sunday the election of Bazoum as the new president of Niger with more than 55 percent of the vote, against 44.34 percent to Mahamane Ousmane.

Bazoum won the presidential election in February but opposition candidate and former Niger President Mahamane Ousmane challenged the results.
