JEDDAH — The Criminal Court in Jeddah sentenced four Saudi citizens to one-year imprisonment for attacking inspection officials from a Jeddah branch municipality during last Ramadan. The officials came under attack while carrying out their duty at a fuel station in the governorate.

The court ordered the convicts to pay fines and an amount of money equal to the value of the damage caused to the official vehicles.

During last Ramadan, the Jeddah police arrested a number of Saudis who attacked members of a specialized committee, including officials of south Jeddah municipality and security men.

The defendants tried to prevent the officials from carrying out their duty of dismantling encroachments on government land on the Old Makkah Road.
