King, Crown Prince congratulate Bangladesh president on Independence Day

RIYADH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman have sent cables of congratulation to Bangladesh’s President Muhammad Abdul Hamid on the eve of his country's Independence Day anniversary.

In their congratulatory messages, the King and the Crown Prince wished the president good health and happiness and the government and people of Bangladesh steady progress and prosperity.

March 26 is a national holiday in Bangladesh. It commemorates the country's declaration of independence from Pakistan in the early hours of March 26, 1971 by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who became the first president of the new country.

This year, Bangladeshis will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the country’s independence.
